alien problem

I'm trying to convert rpms to debs without luck
input:
'alien -d mplayer-1.0pre6-1.i386.rpm'
error output:
chown: can not change ownerhisp , operation not permitted
(I get loooooooooooooooots of this reffering to different directories, 
spessialy /usr/share/*)
Use of uninitialized value in die at 
/usr/share/perl5/Alien/Package/Deb.pm line 488.
Package build failed. Here's the log:
find: mplayer-1.0pre6: Ingen slik fil eller filkatalog

Using debian Sarge for x86.
