you probably need to use lba or lba32 or lba16 in your /etc/lilo.conf file
and/or you need to make a standalone root/boot floppy from the
debian site since you dont have a cdrom drive
once its booted and working off debian boot floopies,
- mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/your-hda1
- lilo -v -C /etc/lilo.conf -r /mnt/your-hda1
- reboot and cross your fingers
- or isntall grub instead of lilo and see if yu
have grub problems or if grub works out of the box
- you won't be able to use syslinux or loadlin which doesn't
have any of these startup problems unless you repartiton
having a /boot partition will probably not help you since you already
have / as /dev/hda1
