Are you wanting to use the nvidia driver, or just want x to
work, if you want x to work just change the driver to nv and
use that driver. If you want the Nvidia driver and all the
3d goodness you will need to install the nvidia kernel
module. The easiest way is to go the nvidia site and
download the driver set, make sure you have kernel headers
installed for your kernel, then follow the readme.

If you want the debian way to solve the problem, search the
list and you will find excellent advice in the archives, as
this topic comes up all the time.

If your still having troubles, you might want to grep your
XFree86 log, searching for EE, or error codes this will tell
you why X won't start.
