Just install a 2.6 kernel 
apt-get install kernel-image-2.6-686 # replace the 686 by the correct
   cpu variant, try "apt-cache search kernel-image-2.6" for more options

If you have a default sarge 2.4 kernel (i.e. not a self-compiled one)
that should be all.
