Cedric, try this please: 

       check the permissions for the /dev/audio and /dev/mixer, they should 
allow permission to "EXECUTE" for both owner and group

       check you are "addgroup  <username> audio (you should already be 
permitted)

          # alsaconf
           simple follow the instructions on screen

           open your multimedia mixer (gmixer or amixer or etc. - whichever 
you are using) and select all controls to max and ESPECIALLY check that NO 
mute boxes are checked.

           this may solve your problem
