udev depends on a 2.6.8+ kernel. Which I believe won't load thesata_sil driver correctly until 2.6.10 and then there's still the issueof knowing to change all your SATA drives to scsi devices in your bootloader, ie grub. All the SATA drives that use to be under /dev/hdX arenow under /dev/sdX
