| How do I get debian to recognize a scroll mouse. Is there a generic
| setting for a scrolling mouse in my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file? During
| the x-window-system-core setup I believe that I just selected the
| generic PS/2 mouse setting. I am using the stable kernel at the moment.
| Your help on this issue would be appreciated, thank you in advanced.

Hi Chris,
Alternatively, you can look in the /etc/XF86Config-4 file. In the
section "InputDevice" you should see something like this
Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

~ Identifier	"Mouse1"
~ Driver "mouse"
~ Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
~ Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
~ Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"

The key line is the Option ZAxisMapping. You need that for your scroll
wheel to work.
You can change the other parameters to suit your system.
Cheers,
Jonathan
