Excellent choice!

That's a broad question. It helps if you narrow it down to more
specific ones. To start mutt just type 'mutt' on the command
line. Press 'm' to begin a new mail. Press F1 to view the help. Or
view that same help from the command line, which should work with a
command like: zless /usr/share/doc/mutt/manual.txt.gz

You can save your favorite settings in a config file in you home
directory, usually with the name '.muttrc'. Note the dot in
front. Search the internet for pages containing that name and you will
find lots of examples on how you could set it up.
