in.tftpd[]: cannot set groups for user nobody

hi @ all,

I'm trying to set up a server for some diskless clients with Debian Sarge.
Since a few hours, tftpd-hpa (v.0.40-4) is driving me nuts. In
standalone-mode, I'm able to get some files when logged in (for testing, on
a client machine) as root. otherwise not:
wvk@entropino:~$ tftp server
tftp> get pxelinux.0
tftp: pxelinux.0: Permission denied
... not nice, eh?

wvk@entropino:~$ su
Password:
entropino:/home/wvk# tftp server
tftp> get pxelinux.0
Received 11963 bytes in 1.7 seconds
... well, root - after all - is god...

after my first attempt, syslog tells me something about
Feb 14 03:16:06 chaos in.tftpd[1378]: cannot set groups for user nobody
and after root's attempt to get a file:
Feb 14 03:20:35 chaos in.tftpd[1406]: tftpd: read(ack): Connection refused
... looks quite strange to me, since it gave me the file.

When I start in.tftpd from inetd, I get a timeout on "get pxelinux.0" and
syslog tells me again friendly stuff like
Feb 14 03:26:13 chaos in.tftpd[1428]: cannot set groups for user nobody
Feb 14 03:26:18 chaos in.tftpd[1429]: cannot set groups for user nobody
Feb 14 03:26:23 chaos in.tftpd[1430]: cannot set groups for user nobody

oh, an the appropriate line in inetd.conf states
tftp dgram udp wait nobody /usr/sbin/in.tftpd  in.tftpd -v /tftpboot -s

Anyone got an idea where I might take a look to succeed in making progress
instead of going crazy on this?

Greetings
wvk
