If you have ever made *any* manual changes to XF86Config-4, then changes
made via dpkg-reconfigure are ignored. There are comments at the top of

Dave, thanks for the heads-up on this, that's a start I guess! But the
text still looks kinda crappy. I'm not entirely sure what's going on...
one thing I notice is that the monitor insisits on displaying at
1024x768 even though I definitely set the monitor to allow the optimal
1280x1024 resolution. even xvidtune -prev won't give me any other
resolutions!
Any hints from anyone? I've attached my XF86Config-4 just in case that
helps.
