I now have midi sometimes.
I can't get the synth & soundfont to load at boot.
I added a file called load-soundfont to /etc/modprobe.d, which contains:
install snd_emu10k1_synth /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install
snd_emu10k1_synth; /usr/bin/asfxload chaos-12MB.sf2
(all on one line, and chaos-12MB.sf2 is my soundfont)

When I boot, I have no sound, but if I start the Sys-V-Init Editor, click
on alsasound, and restart the service, then I have some midi.

What I mean by some midi is that TkAweMidi works fine. Rosegarden also
plays (but it sounds terrible, so1 I don't think it's set up correctly).
Playmidi seems to work okay. But the "test midi" option in the kde sound
control doesn't give any sound.

How can I get midi to work from boot? And why doesn't kde's "test midi"
button work?
