If you are using modutils then you are using Linux 2.4
If you are using Linux 2.4 then you are not using udev; you
need to run /usr/share/alsa-base/snddevices.
I'm using 2.6.8 but alsaconf created entries in /etc/modutils/alsa-base.
Maybe I shouldn't have used alsaconf. But is that even an issue if
the modules are being loaded at boot? Where should I start?
