Not necessarily the same as a remove followed by an install, but...
Why do you have gcc-3.4-base installed? It only seems to have 6
files, none of which are actually used by the compiler. What happens
if you remove it? There might be something weird with other packages
that depend on it conflicting with gcc-3.3. There *shouldn't* be, but
of course that's no guarantee.
