Nothing of the sort. Since I can authenticate neither root nor unpriviledged
user through tty or ssh, I am thinking there is an issue with PAM.
Regardless, I finally broke down and pressed the reset button. Everything
seems to be OK, except for my ego at the thought of 30 days of lost uptime :-(
