OK, so we have:

17" TFT: 13.25 x 10.75 which is approx. 1.23 - probably 1.25:1 (or 5:4)
allowing for measurement error

19" CRT: 14.33 x 10.67 which is approx. 1.34 - probably 1.33:1 (or 4:3)

How strange.  I'd never noticed that some TFTs were 5:4 aspect before.
