Re: System failed after upgrade aborted

Hi,
I don't know which package is the culprit. Neither can I continue with
the upgrading because I did it online and the current state of the
system does not allow me to do that.
Can I downgrade back to 'stable'? And how do I do that ?
I'm betting that since you CC:'d me on this post (which isn't necessary,
as I already read the list), I must've responded to an earlier posting
of yours. However, with all the messages that go through this list, I
can't remember from one day to the next any particular thread, and you
give no context in this posting. So unless I go back and check the
archives (which I'm too lazy to do), I'm afraid I don't know really what
you're talking about.
Judging by the context, and by the subject line, I'm guessing that an
upgrade failed or was intentionally stopped. That's really not a good thing.
Downgrading is considerably more difficult than upgrading, and I would
recommend against it unless you have some compelling reason to do so. At
any rate, I've never successfully done so, and am therefore not the
person to be guiding you on the process. You would also need the stable
packages available, and if you don't have those, then you may have as
much trouble acquiring those as simply going on with the upgrade.
Did you try to upgrade to sid or unstable?
Why was the upgrade aborted?
Why won't the current state of the system allow you to continue the
upgrade? This is the problem I'd fix, and then finish out the upgrade. A
partially upgraded system is likely to be quite inconsistent.
