Yes I am using 2.6 kernel

the strange is that 
inst162:~# insmod snd-pcm-oss
insmod: can't read 'snd-pcm-oss': No such file or
directory

while  the lsmod gives :
nst162:~# lsmod |grep os
snd_pcm_oss            48168  0
snd_pcm                85412  1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_mixer_oss          16640  1 snd_pcm_oss
snd                    50148  4
snd_pcm_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mixer_oss

the user "bela" belongs to the audio group
this is the line in /etc/group
inst162:~# cat /etc/group | grep audio
audio:x:29:bela

is there a program like sndconfig (on RH) or
soundcardconfig-knoppix (knoppix)
