PCMCIA Errors on Boot
Hi All,
I'm a rookie Debian user (rookie Linux user, in fact) and I'm seeing
some odd behaviors upon boot that I hope you can help me with.
I'm running Woody on an iMac with kernel 2.4.18-newpmac.
Here's verbatim what I'm seeing:
INIT: Entering runlevel: 2
Starting system log daemon: syslogd.
Starting kernel log daemon: klogd.
Starting Cyrus IMAPd: cyrmaster.
Starting internet superserver: inetd.
Starting MySQL database server: mysqld.
Checking for crashed MySQL tables in the background.
Starting PCMCIA services:Linux Kernel Card Services 3.1.22
options: [pci] [cardbus] [pm]
Intel PCIC probe: not found.
/lib/modules/2.4.18-newpmac/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/i82356.o:
init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
ioncluding invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.18-newpmac/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/i82356.o: insmod

/lib/modules/2.4.18-newpmac/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/i82356.o: insmod
i82365 failed

/lib/modules/2.4.18-newpmac/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: init_module:

/lib/modules/2.4.18-newpmac/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod

/lib/modules/2.4.18-newpmac/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod ds failed
cardmgr.
/etc/rc2.d/S20pcmcia: /sbin/cardmgr: No such file or directory
Starting mail transport agent: Postfix.
etc...
Post-installation, the setup utility gave me the option to remove all
PCMCIA services, and I chose this option. Additionally, I did a dpkg
-l|grep 'pcmcia' and removed all packages containing pcmcia (there was
only one).
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks in advance.
John
