vsftpd does not accepd passwords of local accounts

*Hi there!

After uninstalling proftpd cause it was much to slow for unknown reasons,
I have installed vsftpd.
It is currently running, but there is the problem, that vsftpd does
not accept the passwords of my local users. I surely typed the passwords rightly, but vsftpd does not accept them. There does always come the error 530 - login incorrect.
I don't know what's wrong there...
Here's my /etc/vsftpd.cof:

---------< /etc/vsftpd.cof > ---------------
anonymous_enable=NO
local_enable=YES
passwd_chroot_enable=YES

write_enable=YES
dirmessage_enable=YES
xferlog_enable=YES
connect_from_port_20=YES

userlist_deny=NO
userlist_enable=YES
chroot_local_user=YES
---------</ /etc/vsftpd.cof > ---------------

the thing with the user list DOES work, because when I try to login with
a user listet in my userlist, vsftpd denies access before password is entered.

Anyway, but when I want to log in with a local user listed in my userlist,
the password is never accepded (530)

I have no idea why, so I would be verry happy for any
hints concering my problem.

Thanks!

Greetings
Flo*
