I'm buying it for my final year at University (I use a laptop in lectures because I'm visually impaired and also my project requires me to be able to work in a number of places where desktops may not be available). It'll be my only computer whilst I'm there.I have a G4 17" Titanic here. I tried to install Woody on, but failed because it didn't recognise the hard drive:-(I've not tried Sarge.
Basically that is the problem discussed over and over again on debian-powerpc ;-). All the new Apple machines (not sure for the eMac) use an ATA100 Controller, and the Woody installer for ppc is just not able to recognize it, hence you are required to use a sarge image, a custom one or a woody image with a newer kernel. It would definitely be very interesting as well if you would try the sarge installer, for every test will perhaps lead us to a bug fix (if there still are any ;-)). On the other hand, if you want to go sure, use Ethan Benson's installer (a custom one) if you want to be on the sure side. Sven Herzberg (I hope I spelled it right) wrote a nice summary for the installation on a 15'' Powerbook: http://www.gnome-de.org/~herzi/pbook/index.php
