Console configuration tool

Hi all... I am looking for a tool to administer the basic network 
parameters (IP, Netmask, gateway, DHCP (if that's the case), etc).

Is there any good (if any at all :-) ).

The idea is use that tool to do the initial/basic setup thought a serial 
console in an appliance without monitor nor keyboard.

I tried linuxconf but I guess it not compatible with the 
/etc/network/interfases schema from Debian 3.0r2.
