how to set apt repository

On my machine I have an apt repository which I would like to share with
occasional friends over internet. This is what I have in
/etc/apt/sources.list :
deb file:/opt/debs archive
which works fine on my machine; but I cannot find the way to allow other
machines to access to it via apt.
I have tryed on a client machine:
deb http://myipaddress/opt/debs archive
but apt complains it can't find stable or something like a debian version.
