Well I'm surprised at the number of responses that are negative towards 
unstable.  Maybe I've just been lucky but I can't say I've had any mayor 
problems with unstable in about 3 years of using it.  
Well actually I still have testing set as the default release (using apt 
pinning) but I've installed so many packages from unstable that most of my 
system is from unstable now.
Aside from problems with packages that I really didn't have the expertise 
to use to start with (udev springs to mind) I really haven't had any mayor 
problems.  I've even used packages from experimental (KDE, XFree 4.3) and 
aside from the occasional dependency conflict that gets solved at the next 
update all has been fine.  Never had a problem with stability or hosing my 
system in 3 years.
