Re: Enabing creative vibra 128 Ensonig Es1371 chip set

Hi all,

running the command

grep -i 1371 /boot/config-`uname -r`

prodced no output

Hence I can assume no sound modules were compiled in the kernel I am using ?
my /boot config file is labled config-2.2.20-idepci
there is also a file labled vmlinuz-2.2.20-idepci in the /boot dir
This all suggest the kernal I am using is 2.2.20-idepci from debian 3.0r2 / woody

Does this mean I need to use a different kernel to enable my sound card ?
If so which precompiled one can I use that is compatable with my current setup ?
or can I force the relevant modules to be loade at boot time ?

thanks
Robert Fernando

I started modconf as was suggested, but there appears to be no sound section listed.
How do I make the sound section appear in modconf.
I installed debian 3.0 woddy with default setup on a i386 pc p3 650mz intel processor.

Could you please post the output of this command:
grep -i 1371 /boot/config-`uname -r`

This will search the configuration used to compile the kernel for the
driver of your soundcard, and show us, if it is compiled as module, as
buildin driver, or not at all.

Yours sincerely,
  Alexander
