Actually the best thing to do is to install whatever version of
xlibmesa-gl you wish, and use dpkg-divert to install
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 with a different name. This takes care of
dependency problems on my box.
Read over the dpkg-divert manpage for more info...
