I'm not sure I answer the question you're asking, but I always
`debfoster $package-` to remove $package I no longer want to use.

Try aptitude. It keep track of packages that are manually/automatically
installed.

Alternativley, one you get rid of kde-baselibs(?) its gaurenteed nothing
of KDE is left...

Thanks everyone.
I found one way, as suggested by one list member, was to get rid of th Qt base, which automatically removes all of KDE.
I then reinstalled all the other Qt apps (like innovation3d) afterward.
All the suggestions have merit.
I've got debfoster installed now, I've just migrated from apt-get to dselect, but I'll have to check out aptitude as well.
Regards and thanks,

David.
