segmentation fault with reading /etc/nsswitch.conf

I tried to install a deb of a commercial program (free for personal
use) called compupic on my system.

Trying to run it I get a segmentation fault. Running strace show that
it dumps just after reading /etc/nsswitch.conf. I don't think that it
is doing it internally since googling for that shows that a few other
programs are doing it after the upgrade to libc6 2.3.2.

Anyone has any ideas how to solve this (apart from trying to find a
copy of libc6 2.3.1-17 and trying to handle downgrade dependencies)

The end of the strace output:
