Yes, you need to tell Cyrus to authenticate against sasl.  IIRC, this
is automatic for the Cyrus 2 Debian packages.  So all you need to do
is two things:

Use cyradm to create a mailbox user.foo.  Then use saslpasswd to
create an account and assign a password for the user foo.

That's it!  Unless, of course, Cyrus does not authenticate against
sasl.  Hm.
