This might be obvious, but I thought I'd pass it along to the list: I've noticed that xmms (under sid/kde) was giving me horrible playback with skips, distortion, etc. Really bad, mostly unusable. Anyway, I installed: xmms-arts - aRts Output plugin for xmms and all is well. That is all, sorry for intruding.
