I recently completed a project where I used LVM to
make 2 120 GB drives and a 20 GB partition into 1 
/home filesystem.  However, I switched to evms 
(http://evms.sourceforge.net) as it has a ncurses 
gui for easy configuring for a server.  Their IRC 
is very helpful as well.
