cdrecord 2.01a16 and ATAPI CD/R
I'm running unstable.
cdrecord --version shows 2.01a16. Kernel is the stock Debian
2.4.21-5-k7. For some reason, i've not been able to setup SCSI emulation
for my ASUS CRW-5224A cd writer (hdd). I did append hdd=ide-scsi to the
kernel boot parameters in lilo.conf. Modprobing ide-scsi doesn't show
any errors. But cdrecord -scanbus shows:
Cdrecord 2.01a16 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2003 J?rg
Schilling
cdrecord.mmap: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot
open SC SI driver.
cdrecord.mmap: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure
you are r oot.
cdrecord.mmap: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord
dev=help'.
cdrecord.mmap: Also make sure that you have loaded the sg driver and the
driver for
cdrecord.mmap: SCSI hardware, eg. ide-scsi if you run IDE/ATAPI drives
over
cdrecord.mmap: ide-scsi emulation. Read
/usr/share/doc/cdrecord/README.ATAPI.set up!
cdrecord -scanbus dev=ATAPI says:

Can i use ATAPI writing with cdrecord ? Are there any gotchas ? Any
significant performance hits ?
Thanks a lot.
