When I logout as my user account, having never logged in any other TTYs, and log in TTY1 as root, and "slay <me>", and then "ps -AL | grep <me>", no matches, and then try to "deluser <me>", it says "<me> is logged in." I have to reboot first. Why? How can I get <me> not to be logged in at all so I can deluser and recreate him without rebooting?
