You use XFree 4.

And it seems you use the vga driver. Which you probably shouldn't.

It says your card has 4 MB of RAM. But only 256 K are used, which may
explain the "insufficient memory" problems.

The diamond viper 550 is a Nvidia TNT card. I am confused about the 4 MB
of memory, I thought these cards had 16 MB. You need the "nv" driver,
but it seems you use the "vga" driver. Switch to "nv" or "vesa". Run

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

and select the correct driver. If you still have problems, show us the
device and screen sections of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Keep in mind that
if /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 exists, /etc/X11/XF86Config will be ignored.
