Works fine here. I've got software raid running with smartmontools (it
was "smartsuite" in woody, I believe) on three boxes. raid0 and raid5
are doing just fine.

Soft raid doesn't do any low-level magic with the source volumes,
essentially treating each volume as a logical file. I can't think of a
reason to suspect problems.
