The following command resets the XScreensaver inactivity countdown (as
if there has just been some user activity, e.g., moving the mouse):

  $ xscreensaver-command -deactivate

Ideally, just stick this in the script that makes the JPEG files
triggered by camera motion:

  $ xscreensaver-command -deactivate >/dev/null 2>&1

Or, put something that runs in cron every minute that checks the age
of files in the JPEG directory and runs the above command if any of
them are sufficiently new.
