Jerky mouse movements with 2.6.0

I have recently re-subcribed to this list after a break of about 8
months - if the query I make has been covered, I would be grateful if
someone could provide me an URL. I have searched the December archives
but found nothing.

My problem:

After compiling and running a 2.6.0 kernel with testing, I found that
the mouse pointer would suddenly wander off on its own when I use it.
This is a generic two-button wheel mouse.

I ran dpkg-reconfigure --xserver-common and, as advised, reset the
niceness for the the mouse to 0.

This, however, does not fix the problem so after a while I reverted back
to the 2.4.19 which I was using.

The settings for my mouse in XF86Config:

Section "Pointer"
Protocol "PS/2"
Device "/dev/psaux"
Emulate3Timeout 50
Resolution 100
Buttons 3
Emulate3Buttons
EndSection

Changing the protocol to IMPS/2 does not make any difference. Under the
older version of X, I was using BaudRate and SampleRate but the mouse
works perfectly with 2.4.19 and this configuration so I haven't bothered
to add those parameters.

Cheers,

Sam
