Acpi support fails (2.4.21)

Hallo!
I've downloaded Debian's patched kernel-source-2.4.21 and compiled it enabling
Acpi support (HP Omnibook XT1000)...
... but acpi is not working. No /proc/acpi/ directory is created after
reboot. Running dmesg shows:
