Try removing procmail from the equation as a start (just use the default
mailbox) and see if that solves the problem. Will at list give a direction.
Also whats the mail program you are using (exim/exim4/sendmail/qmail/
etc.)?
Try opening the actual mailbox with an editor before you open it with
mutt and see if the first line is there to begin with.
If its a mailbox then you will have all the messages one after the
other, in a maildir open one of the files in the new subdirectory to be
sure that mutt didn't open them first.
