Something like this?

Create a file called subscribe containing, with lists set to taste:

	#!/bin/bash
	lists='user cd security-announce'	# (for example)
	for x in $lists
	do
		echo | (set -x; mail -s ${0##*/} debian-${x}-request@lists.debian.org)
	done


Then do
	chmod +x subscribe
	ln -s subscribe unsubscribe

To unsubscribe do
	./unsubscribe
To re-subscribe do
	./subscribe

NB mail is in the mailx package. Substitute mutt for mail if you prefer.
