I lived in Charlotte until 3 years ago. My family has a house in
Atlantic Beach (NC, near Morehead City), and my sister's in-laws have a
house in Holden Beach.

You get to know a state pretty well when you spend 30 years in it :-)
My mom's from New Bern, I know the people. I've had eastern NC
barbequeue flown to me in California - $80 shipping on $20 of food.

What I think is funny what fishes-out-of-water the Red Hat employees
must be over there in Cary (the large suburb of Raleigh). Over there on
that side you get out into tobacco country pretty quickly towards
Zebulon and Dunn. I can just imagine those Linux skateboard punks with
piercings and mascara going out to those redneck bars on a Friday night.

"Boy, what's the *matter* with you" :-)
