Thanks that's helpful I thought I rembered more limits than that in various
generations of ID protocol.

OK lspci says:

00:04.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE (rev 01)

And the apropriate bits of dmesg are:

PIIX4: IDE controller at PCI slot 00:04.1
PIIX4: chipset revision 1
PIIX4: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
    ide0: BM-DMA at 0xfcd0-0xfcd7, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:pio
	ide1: BM-DMA at 0xfcd8-0xfcdf, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio

So, will this amchine be able to use 120G drives?
