rcpthosts

<sigh>

There I was, congratulating myself on getting SpamAssassin working
through KMail, using mailfilter as a precommand. I sat back, luxuriating
in seeing swen die at the SMTP level. Spam floated effortlessly through
SpamAssassin, to land with a thump in the FilteredSpam box. I emailed a
few friends. I fiddled with adding friends to mailfilter, and muddled
with KMail configuration. Sunday afternoon was glorious.

Then KMail rudely rejected mail, claiming 553 sorry ... rcpthosts not
allowed #5.7.1 .... I googled, and refiddled, life was not so good.

Surprisingly little was documented, less in English, and now I find
things work again (although I stoutly deny I made any changes to make
things better)

1. What did the message imply?
2. What the hell happened? As far as I can tell, from one episode of
successful emailing to the failure, I did not fiddle. And as far as I can
tell, from the time of that failure to send messages, after trying all
sorts, I really left it alone to search for help, and then beg of this
forum. And now it works again.

Hallowe'en?

Brian
