Name resolution happens via /etc/hosts and/or DNS.  So put an entry in
/etc/hosts (you probably don't have a name server otherwise you would
just update the zone to include that machine).

/etc/network/interfaces describes how the physical and logical
interfaces on the system are set up, but has nothing to do with name
resolution.
