 man mailfilter

default Mailfilter tries to read $HOME/.mailfilterrc

Yes.

# Configuration created Sat Apr 19 11:02:39 2003 by fetchmailconf
set postmaster "your-postmaster"
#set bouncemail
#set logfile /home/iyour_home_dir/fetchmail.log
set no spambounce
set properties ""
poll pop.capital.net with proto POP3
user 'brittman' there with password 'your_passwd' is 'You' here
       preconnect "mailfilter"

Do it like the above.

fetchmail 6.2.4-1
mailfilter 0.5.0-2 (Testing version)

Note I am using Mailfilter from Testing. I don't know if the above
has changed for the unstable (0.5.1-2) version.
