Well shut my mouth...

Either this is now standard with the latest update for gdm on Sid, or the feature (prompting for the root password on shutdown/reboot/halt) is enabled only on the standard greeter.

This change was introduced by the latest gdm update. The graphical greeter
should do the same.

The last couple of weeks have been full of updates to packages in Sid, thanks to the hard work of the maintainers. I decided to give gdmgreeter a go again, and it works.

I am still not prompted for a password to shutdown or reboot from gdmgreeter.

Can someone else running a recent Sid copy of gdmgreeter (gdm package 2.4.1.6-1) see if they are prompted for the root password to shutdown? (Note: I believe you need to have "Secure System Menu" checked on the security page of gdmconfig.)

On my system gdmlogin prompts for the root password but gdmgreeter does not even though I have "Secure System Menu" checked.

I just want to see if this new feature (Secure System Menu) is working on the gdmgreeter (graphical) for others. If it is the problem must be a configuration problem on my system.
