Not booting

The boot process of my linux-debian-knoppix machine stops
almost at the end....
Last change was:
I was trying to apt-get imagemagick
apt-get asked to download and install several libraries. I gave "Y".
After a long while, the configuration process seems to be freezed
at some part....I tried to kill -9, nothing happened.
I have to leave and so shutdown...it shutdown clean, but....
When I tried to boot again it freezes (I'm sending the last part
of the boot process)
I could enter again with the knoppix CD.
I mounted (rw) the / of the HD.
I chroot to the / of the HD, and run apt-get -f install libc6
( thought this was one of the last downloaded library).
everything went ok.
(exit,unmount) and reboot...
everything is the same!
I don't want to reinstall all from scratch, I've been working a lot with
this machine in this configuration and put and take out a lot of software....
Questions:
1.-How can I check what what other libraries are broken?
2.- Is there any other way to see what is going wrong with the boot procces (besides the demesg)?
3.- any clue how to fix whatever it may be ;-)

thanks
