XF86 mode question ?
Hello all,
I run my display at 800x600, Sometimes it would be usefull to run it at
1024x768, for example to run xcdroast.
I setup my modes in subsection "display" as "800x600" "1024x768" and
restarted X.
It appears to take the highest resolution, ie 1024x768 and make a buffer
for it. If I ctrl-alt-- I get 800x600 but the screen buffer is as big
as 1024x768. When I click on full screen for a window, it becomes so
big as to be almost useless. In addition when my cursor reaches the edge
of the screen, the screen scrolls ... OK so I find the rest of my "full
screen" window, but not ideal.
I hate to say this, but is there a way to make XF86 work like Windows ?
ie no matter what the resolution I want a fixed screen the size of my
monitor screen, no scrolling, no expanding off the end.
I have checked out "man XF86Config-4" and experimented, but have not
been successfull.
Any Suggestions ?
Dave
