I'd suggest vcdimager instead.  You can also use cdrdao and cdfs,
which is a kernel hack that tries to let you mount VCDs and audio
CDs as if they have file systems (that's what the fs is for).
I've had stability issues with cdfs though.  The last version I
tried, 0.5c[*], always necessitated a reboot.

[*] My standard qualifier when talking about opensource software.
You don't know but that much needed feature and bugfix might have
just crept into the *latest* version.
