UPGRADE: console-common error

After several months I have upgraded my home system, running unstable.
In the middle of it all, messages appear

Writing extended state information... Done
Setting up console-common (0.7.25) ...
Looking for keymap to install:
us
dpkg: error processing console-common (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Setting up console-data (2002.12.04dbs-15) ...
Looking for keymap to install:

dpkg: error processing console-data (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Errors were encountered while processing:
 console-common
 console-data

Is this a known problem? This looks crucial, but is there any way to
override this?

Thanks for many years of satisfaction, with the occasional self-induced
climbing problem (upgrading unstable systems, for example!).

I have steadily endeavored to keep my mind free, so as to give up any
hypothesis, however much beloved -- and I cannot resist forming one
on every subject -- as soon as facts are shown to be opposed to it.

The right to search for truth implies also a duty; one must not
conceal any part of what one has recognized to be true.
                                  -- Albert Einstein

As we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others we should
be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of
ours, and this we should do freely and generously.
