I think it's pretty much guaranteed that XP's install will overwrite the
boot loader .. either make a boot floppy, or use the handy rescue option
on a debian CD, so you can get back in and re-run lilo after the install
(or grub's equivalent if you're using grub). lilo shouldn't require any
config change aslong as it's the same partition as before, grub I'm not
familiar with.
About the only other catch I can think of, is that XP Pro (maybe XP
Home, I haven't used it) defaults to NTFS rather than fat32 for the
filesystem. This should work with most modern kernels, but read-only.
NTFS write support is marked expimental, to the degree that they advise
two consecutive methods of fixing the disk before you dare use it again.
It also defaults to root-only, 'man mount' for the uid/gid/umask options
if this is a problem.
